HAWAII BOUND

Best rewards cards for travel, Capital One Venture

Also sub-titled, some ‘firsts’ are worth revisiting together, like a trip to Oahu! Aloha, the trip of a lifetime.

A huge thank you to Capital One® for partnering with us on what is bound to be our favorite trip this year. Maybe ever. Favorite trip ever.

And, speaking of ever… For the first time EVER, we’re going to Hawaii together 🙂 And it all started with some pizza, a few glasses of wine, and a night spent looking at old photos from trips we went on a few years ago. From Greece to Tulum to Miami, we’re always chasing the sun.

But, it’s been awhile and we knew we needed a sunny vacation; which really just meant… we saw some photos of us in our swimsuits, cried a little, and immediately realized we needed a tan, like, PRONTO.

Like… we needed a tan yesterday.

It also doesn’t help that, as we’re writing this, a storm’s plummeting through San Francisco at lightning speed. For the fifth time this year. And it’s only the second week of February. GIVE US A BREAK. We’ve never been BFFs with the rain…

But, back to our riveting travel story!

We looked at a list of all of the places we still hadn’t been to together. We could go to Morocco? We could go to the coast of Italy? But, in our heart of hearts, we knew we needed to go ‘tropical’ — the need, here, being that we might have been, probably were Vitamin D deficient and we needed injections of sunshine. It’s a thing.

As soon as we started talking ‘tropical’, we settled on the fact that we had both been to Hawaii once before (a first, and only time, with our families when we were both in high school, separately) but had never been together. Let alone, we both hadn’t been back since.

The burning question: what if we revisited our “first” Hawaii experience, this time together?

As soon as it was asked, the question was settled. We were going to Oahu, Hawaii 🙂

Getting down to the logistics, we booked a stay at the Laylow Hotel in Waikiki with our Capital One Venture card. As a HUGE plus, with our card and their new partnership with Hotels.com, we can now earn 10 miles per dollar athotels.com/Venture — and basically land another whole vacation as a bonus 😛

The 411: With our Venture card offering the ability to use our miles on any airline, any flight, any ride share, any hotel with no blackout dates, our decision was made: this was the best travel investment we could make together.

But, if we’re being completely honest, when it comes to traveling, we’re not always the easiest or the most flexible. Consider us the anxiety duo. And so, our trip to Hawaii was not only a ‘first’ in experience, but also a ‘first’ in booking — pulling the trigger on a travel decision that normally would have taken us weeks to plan. We felt confident and comfortable booking with Capital One Venture, because we knew that we would always be earning miles for our next trip as well. Even outside of the hotels.com x Venture card partnership, Venture purchases earn double miles for every dollar we spend on purchases, and they don’t expire for the life of the account. It was so easy and a no-brainer.

So there it is, we’re revisiting a first together in the land of Aloha 🙂

Next up, the actual trip! Get ready for a vlog, coming your way soon 😛

OH, and before we forget! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send us all of your recommendations for what to do while we’re on Oahu!
