OUR (VERY BRIEF, BUT VERY IMPORTANT) GUIDE TO SUITING

As we’ve grown older wiser over the past few years, the fact is, we’ve shifted to wearing more suits more often, despite never needing to be in an office setting. Consider it our desire to live out our Talented Mr. Ripley fantasies. Come on over, young Matt Damon.

All of this said, we have a few tips to consider, having mustered them up over the years when it comes to suiting. Commence: our (very brief, but still very important) Yummertime Guide to Suiting.

Focus on fit.

We’ve been wearing Bonobos more and more and more, all because of their fit. Take the Bonobos Jetsetter Suit collection (on Chris), for example. It’s an all-purpose suit with a hint of stretch for extra comfort,
forming to your body in a super-duper comfortable and flattering way.

J.Lo’s got nothing on this booty in a suit.

That added stretch gives an ease to a suit on the go, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. And the fact is, we’re always on the go nowadays and traveling with a steamer isn’t always the most ideal… Wrinkles, be gone!

But, back to fit.

The last thing anyone wants when it comes to a suit is a jacket with armholes too large, a waist stretched out too far, and pants that don’t fit perfectly over the thigh or calf. Straight off the rack, the Jetsetter Suit’s added stretch allows for a give in every direction. Sized at your true measurements, the Jetsetter Suit fits idyllically, in our well-thought out opinions 😉

Focus on fabric.

In addition to the fit of all Bonobos suits, we’ve been wearing their Lightweight Suiting collection (on Brock) more often through the Spring and Summer. Made of 100% Italian linen, it’s a suit that breathes even in the face of global climate change, or even just through the humidity of a Summer in Manhattan.

And considering we’re both subject to the terror of sweating in public, the Lightweight Suit has become our ultimate Summer remedy. As the seasons change, a switch from linen to wool makes the most sense, but there’s no reason why you can’t still wear a linen suit through Fall (especially for the regions that have warmer Autumns than others).

So there you have it. Our very brief, yet still very important guide to suiting.

Oh, and one more thing. Bonobos just launched their Performance Suit. It’s the power suit we’ve especially been waiting for 😉 It’s resistant to wrinkles, stains and liquids — meaning, Chris won’t ruin another suit again by spilling milk and cookies all over it. But, that’s another story.
