A WINERY HOSTED A MUSIC FESTIVAL AND WE’RE NOW FOREVER CHANGED

Yummertime at Sonoma Harvest Music Festival at BR COHN WineryIt’s Friday, and as one does on a Friday, with Friday being the most truthful day of the week (don’t ask why, just take our word), we feel like getting something off our chest… large-scale music festivals wear us out. Whew. THERE. We said it.

It’s never the music. It’s always the crowds. The huge crowds of zombies, walking from set to set, and out of the venue, herded like cattle.

Now, don’t get us wrong, we still love big music festivals — hello, BottleRock But, there’s gotta be a middle ground. Somewhere. Somehow.

Cut to: a music festival with a crowd that maxes out at a couple thousand.
Cut to: a music festival at a winery, with copious amounts of wine and gourmet food.
Cut to: Sonoma Harvest Music Festival, hosted at B.R. Cohn Winery (a winery that’s been around since the 1980s) this past weekend.

An adjunct festival presented by BottleRock, Sonoma Harvest played host to some of our own music faves — from Lake Street Dive to Rayland Baxter and ZZ Ward. And with a 70-acre backdrop of grapevines and rolling hills, the scene was enough to make us realize what a music festival actually could be.

Intimate and breathtaking, all at the same time.

Breathtaking enough that if you’ve never seen the grounds of B.R. Cohn, we implore you: make a trip. With an abundance of olive trees and oak trees across the 70 acres, it’s an oasis in the Sonoma Valley unmatched by everything else around it. They even have a 100-year old olive tree you can visit — you just need a golf cart to get to it.

Olive trees aside, let’s talk about the food and the wine. THE WINE.

With a glass of B.R. Cohn pinot noir in-hand (let’s admit, practically at all times), we went from carnitas tacos to kimchi fries and onward to salted caramel ice cream. The dream.

For a random Sunday in September, we have to admit, we did pretty great for ourselves.

If you missed Sonoma Harvest this past weekend, don’t fret. You can still experience live music every Sunday at B.R. Cohn through the month of October 2018. More information here.
