All you stylists and fashionistas better grab ahold of and clutch your favorite accessory or pair of Jimmy Choo’s: Vancouver Fashion week is here and ready to bring a whole lot of fabulous style, art, charisma, and creativity to the runway. With hot, new, and up-and-coming designers like Peter Zuk and his Haus of Zuk making its premiere appearance, it’s safe to say that Vancouver Fashion week is going to slay that catwalk.

Held twice a year in British Columbia’s largest city, Vancouver Fashion Week is one of the biggest fashion events on the West Coast, and designers, models, and artists alike find themselves flocking to Vancouver every spring and fall to get a glimpse at what is hot, new, and trendy. Now in its 19thincarnation, Vancouver FW19, as it is being nicknamed, is ready to take the fashion world on by storm.

More than 72 designers and style houses will participate in this spring’s Vancouver Fashion Week, and perhaps none is as highly anticipated as Peter Zuk and his newly introduced House of Zuk.A talented up-and-coming designer, who’s collection will be featured at this year’s VFW, the Haus of Zuk is looking to Vancouver Fashion week to solidify his name in the haut couture world.

The Haus of Zukcollection takes a whimsical approach with designs, taking inspiration by Peter Zuk’s past in the cosplay community and love for video game culture. His first main stream collection features fantasy-esque creations, drawing a heavy amount of inspiration from nightlife entertainers and drag queens, specifically.

Peter Zuk’s Haus of Zuk creations came about whilst he was studying at Blanche Macdonald fashion design program. He was selected to then showcase his designs at the Blanche Macdonald graduate fashion show in the fall of 2018. Since then, Peter Zuk and his Haus of Zuk haven’t looked back. This collection will certainly be a stand-out at this year’s Vancouver Fashion Week, as the Haus of Zuk is a provocative collection that will include appearances by local Drag Queens. A strong ally of the LGBT community, the Haus of Zuk embraces queer identity and celebrates it.

“The inspiration behind my debut collection, OVERDOSE!!!, was an amalgamation of my love for sex parties and wanting to start branding myself from the moment the fashion world got a taste of me,” explains Peter Zuk. “I struggled with wanting to do something so artistic, and avante-garde, which derived from me always trying to prove to people how mature I was as a person. I used super stimulating textures like fur, and shiny PVC, and obnoxious neon colors to really arouse the viewers senses. By taking a super childish concept such as teddy bears, and hyper-sexualizing the idea with slutty silhouettes, it created an almost taboo kind of aesthetic, which fully captured my persona.”

Although this collection hasn’t been shown, Peter Zuk has already began designing a follow-up collection, which has absolutely no similarities to OVERDOSE!!!. It is anticipated to be painfully romantic.

Peter Zuk’s work can be viewed at the upcoming Vancouver Fashion Week, during the opening of the closing day, scheduled for 5:00pm on March 24, 2019. Beyond that Peter Zuk plans to showcase his collection on his Instagramaccount, which also includes fashion videos and custom client pieces.

Be on the lookout for some outrageous, colorful, and fun designs from all the designers at this Vancouver Fashion Week—not just the Haus of Zuk. You’ll catch a glimpse of the fashion future at one of the most beloved weeks in the Vancouver spring calendar. Check out all other the incredible designers, including Peter Zuk, and make plans to attend Vancouver Fashion Week 2019.
